October 20th, 2019, we said our farewells to Rev. Ned with an:
- 11 am service at Hampton, followed by lunch
- and a 7 pm candle service at Eldad United Church, followed by Celtic music provided by Saskia Tomkins and Alanna Jenish (great choice Ned!).

Oh, and you may ask what is that instrument being played by Saskia?
We had to ask her! It’s a traditional Swedish musical instrument called a Nyckelharpa. A type of harp played with a bow. Its keys are attached to tangents which, when a key is depressed, serve as frets to change the pitch of the string. There are 16 strings! It sounds like a fiddle. If I remember correctly she said, there are only 8 or 9 people in Canada who can play it. She’s self-taught and has been playing it for 20 years.
Their music was beautiful, listen to a clip below, you’ll be sad you missed it!
