Landfill Diversion Project

Next collection date: April 18, 2026.

NO LONGER collect the following due to economic uncertainty and sponsors have withdrawn their support
  • Personal care containers, deodorant containers, makeup containers, hair and gel tubes, toothpaste tubes, toothbrushes, floss sticks and floss boxes.  
The items listed below, collected in the blue box, are not recycled, so let’s keep them out of landfill and get them to companies who will recycle them.
 
Following items still collected:
  • Eyeglasses and hearing aids  (Lions Recycle for Sight & Hearing)
  • Gently used and new Footwear (Soles 4 Souls)
  • Poptabs (Poptabs for Pups – Lions Foundation of Canada Dogguides)
  • All brands of disposable razors, blades and packaging (Terracycle – sponsored by Gillette)
  • Brita brand filters and receptacles (Terracycle -sponsored by Brita)
  • Plastic squeeze snack pouches – all brands (Terracycle sponsored by GoGoSqueez)
  • Swiffer dusters and packaging (Terracycle – sponsored by Swiffer)
  • Air and Home Care products including trigger heads (Terracycle – sponsored by Febreze)
  • McCafe pods and packaging (Terracycle – sponsored by McCafe)
  • Used pens, markers and highligters (Staples sends them to Terracycle)
  • Ink cartridges, ink toners (Staples sends them out for recycling)
     
  • Milk Bags – collected for our Milk bag mat workshops
