WE GATHER WITH PRAISE

Prelude
Welcome

Gospel Jam: Amen, amen. VU 149 When I Survey | VU 675 Will Your Anchor Hold?

Call To Worship (responsive)
Praise the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has led us on the right road!
Grant success to the journey on which we have come.
Come and praise the Lord for all that quenches our thirst!

Allow us to draw your spirit into our jars from your eternal spring of abundance.
Bow down and worship the Lord and accept the gifts which he bestows upon you!

We say thank you, God, and ask for the wisdom to use these gifts in your service.
Amen.

Celebration Of Our Great Nation’s 153rd Birthday Song: Oh Canada
O Canada!
Our home and native land
True patriot love
In all our sons command
With glowing hearts
We see thee rise
The True North, strong and free
From far and wide
O Canada
We stand on guard for thee
God keep our land
Glorious and free
O Canada we stand on guard for thee!
O Canada we stand on guard for thee!

Opening Prayer (responsive)
Kind, patient and merciful Lord. Although we want to do good in your eyes we find ourselves making choices that are not kind, patient, nor merciful. In our hearts we seek no greater joy than to be in your good graces having arrived before you purified in heart and mind. But, as good as our intentions are, evil is always seeking to lead us away from the path of righteousness. And, we are weak in refusing the false promises of The Enemy. Lead us away from temptation and deliver us from evil. We ask this in the name of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Words Of Assurance
If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness

Prayer For The Gifts & Givers
Bless the work of all communities of faith in our region of East Central Ontario, remembering today especially its minister, worship leaders and congregation of St Stephen’s United Church in Oshawa and all that they contribute to carrying forth the word and promises of God into their community. Strengthen the mission and the faith of all who seek you, with the help of your Holy Spirit; we pray in Christ’s name, Amen.

Prayers Of The People
The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
